Lone Tree Mutual Water Company is a prominent irrigation service provider to approximately 12,000 acres of agricultural land in El Nido, CA. We are seeking a skilled and dynamic General Manager to oversee operations, manage a dedicated 6-person staff, and report directly to the Board of Directors. This is a full-time position that offers an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact in the agriculture and water management sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Staff Supervision: Lead and manage a 6-person team, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations of the irrigation system, maintenance of equipment, and proper water distribution across 12,000 acres.
- Budget and Financial Oversight: Develop and manage the annual budget for operations and capital improvements. Work closely with the board to ensure financial goals are met.
- Strategic Planning and Development: Work with the board to create long-term plans for sustainability, infrastructure improvements, and water conservation efforts.
- Compliance and Reporting: Ensure the company adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations regarding water use, environmental impact, and agricultural best practices. Regularly report to the Board of Directors on operational performance.
- Customer Service: Maintain strong relationships with water users, addressing concerns, resolving conflicts, and ensuring high satisfaction levels.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in water management, irrigation systems, or a related agricultural field. Experience in a managerial or supervisory role is preferred.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work closely with board members and external stakeholders.
- Solid understanding of budget management, financial reporting, and operational efficiency.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements regarding water rights, conservation practices, and environmental policies.
- A valid California driver’s license is necessary at the time of hire.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Water Resources, Business Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant management experience in agriculture, irrigation, water resources, or similar fields.
- Experience working with a Board of Directors or in a board reporting capacity is preferred.
