Did you know there is a Water missionary organization with international outreach headquartered in the San Joaquin Valley? I did and to my shame it’s taken me a couple of years to pass this good news on in Praying For Rain. Ken Williams of Willitts Pump altered me to Living Water World Missions. And they are headquartered right here in the San Joaquin Valley in Visalia. Opps, I think I just opened with that, but isn’t it exciting?
There was some motivation to get this out today. As I write this, it’s the Saturday before Easter. I came home last night to find a vet in the back pasture putting down my sister-in-law’s first horse – a 28-year old Thoroughbred mare. Few horses have lived a longer or finer life but whenever we lose a four legged family member there is sorrow and for many of us Christians hope to see even these loved ones again. Read the book or watch Randy Alcorn talk about his book Heaven on YouTube, Heaven at 20:15 or read about Sarah, a character from C.S. Lewis’ Great Divorce, and her entourage for examples of this.
Certainly, it wasn’t lost on me as I watched the light of living leave the eye of a horse it was taking place on Good Friday. The day our Lord became a lamb to the slaughter. We’re all lambs, not the pure and spotless Lamb of God, the only one worthy to bear our sins. But Jesus tells Peter, “Feed my sheep.” We are His sheep.
Of course we are not the only sheep and man cannot live by bread alone. It takes water. Living World Missions shares the Lord’s command to feed (again, not to put too fine a point on it but to also water) the sheep. It ties in with the great commission to go unto the world and make disciples. Easter is a good time for us to be aware of this ministry.
Who is Living Water World Missions?
I’m going to borrow here from the LWWM website since they already wrote out what I want to share with you. Also, as we know Jesus offered the woman at the well “Living water”. Due to the propensity of using words and phrases from our Lord there are a number of ministries and churches with very similar names – so, don’t get confused.
May you and yours have a blessed Easter. Yours in Christ, Don
Here Goes:
“Living Water World Missions is a non-profit organization located in Visalia, California existing to share the Good News of Jesus Christ in the context of installing sustainable water purification systems for communities in need. While our current ministry focus is in the Central American country of Guatemala, we are poised to install systems all around the world. We assist and train nationals in the building of clean water systems which use filters and ozone to remove germs and bacteria from city water sources, making it safe to consume. In addition, we train parents, children, and interested others in germ theory, hygiene, and the appropriate uses of clean water.
“Teams of between 8-16 people of all ages that travel on installation trips include members of various church congregations in Visalia and the surrounding communities, located in central California as well as from across the country. Team members share a common love for God and His people around the world and pay their own travel and living expenses in service to others. Generally, trips last approximately 8-9 days including travel to and from the installation site(s).
“Living Water World Missions (LWWM) is overseen by an 8-member Board of Directors comprised of people from a variety of faith traditions. The LWWM Board meets once per month in order to prioritize where and when clean water systems will be built. In addition, members of the LWWM Board meet interested groups in the community on a regular basis to share the vision and the need for clean water worldwide. Our hope is that others will be inspired to participate in an installation trip or be led to donate funds that will enable us to continue to accomplish our mission.”
Winter 2025 LWWM Newsletter
To give you an idea of what LWWM does in the field here is an excerpt from its newsletter:
“As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”
– Isaiah 55: 10-11
11th Annual Operator’s Conference in Guatemala
In December we held our 11th Operator’s Conference in Bonanza La Ponderosa, Tepán, Guatemala. There were 170 operators in attendance from sites all over Guatemala! A day filled with words of encouragement, team building activities, a delicious lunch, and ending with awards and recognition to those who are working so hard to bring Jesus into their communities.
Our first system of 2025 and our 11th in Cuba! The January installation team was met with a welcome challenge of a narrow 3.5 foot system room, which was successfully equipped with the clean water system.
The Education and Evangelism team had the blessing of 165 children attending lessons. The children were excited to participate in the lessons of germs and becoming “Clean Water Superheros”! On the last day of lessons, the children were asked to raise their hands if they wanted to accept Jesus as their savior – over 90% of them accepted the call! Praise the Lord!!
On the final evening in Cuba, the church held the dedication, where the church Pastor, Pastor Andy, and Pastor Daniel lead worship, followed by songs by local children and a system room ribbon cutting.
February brought LWWM to the Iglesia del Nazareno in Chisec, Alta Verapaz, Guatemala. On Monday, the installation team and many enthusiastic volunteers from the church got right to work. By the end of the day, the team had made great progress. By Wednesday, the system was completed, pressure tested and system operators successfully trained and tested.
The Education & Evangelism team on Monday welcomed over 70 children from the community who learned a message from the Bible and enjoyed some games. On Tuesday, the team had more than 100 students that learned about germs and the importance of good hygiene. In the afternoon, the team hosted 35 women from the community where they gathered for time of prayer and worship. The women all received cosmetic bags, provided by Sew What in Visalia, CA, filled with hygiene products prepared for them by the team. On Wednesday, the team had 170 students and when finished had 150 who had accepted Jesus into their hearts. The entire team also had the pleasure of delivering bags of food to those in need while sharing words of prayer for them.
Dinner and a lovely dedication service were hosted by the church on Thursday evening and concluded a week of seeing the goodness of God!
Prayer Requests
Let us continue our prayers for our brothers and sisters in Cuba as they deal with many hardships, such as food insecurities and the country’s electric grid.
Please pray with us for the safety of our teams and staff as they travel each month.
