Note from the CWI: The California Water Institute at Fresno State is pleased to share a Stakeholder Engagement Report for the San Joaquin Valley Blueprint for Water Resilience. The report was prepared in response to Governor Gavin Newsom’s solicitation for comments, recommendations, and proposals for creating a water resilience portfolio for the State of California (Executive Order N-10-19). The California Water Institute at Fresno State hosted stakeholder listening sessions on Saturday, August 31 and Saturday, September 7, 2019. We want to extend our sincere appreciation to the individuals that took their personal time to visit the campus on those days to provide input for water resilience in the San Joaquin Valley. The comments, recommendations, and proposals offered by the stakeholders are included at the end of this Report.

The report can be accessed at http://bit.ly/SJVWaterResilience

If you have any comments or suggestions for improving water resilience in the SJ Valley, or if you would like to participate in planning efforts to deliver improved water resilience in the San Joaquin Valley, please feel free to contact us at waterandsustainability@mail.fresnostate.edu

Note from WaterWrights.net: The report is part of a larger effort – the San Joaquin Valley Blueprint for Water Resilience. Here are some highlights – there were three conclusions drawn; if it was easy it would have already been accomplished. The second conclusion was a four part definition of why suitable water policy in California is difficult and thirdly the state needs to be very careful of what it does. The old unforeseen consequences that tend to ricochet around the state causing hardship to the people when legislation and regulation isn’t well considered. The next part of the report lists recommendations to achieve a more stable water future. The report is 27-pages with the last 14 comments from the stakeholder meetings.
